Description

The Nelson Column is a memorial column located in Hereford, built around 1809 by Thomas Hardwick and executed by Wood of Hereford. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a stepped base with buttresses and a prominent cornice. The column is of the Tuscan order and is adorned with anchors and rope swags. It has a moulded capital and an urn that is clasped by dolphins. The column also includes a frieze and a restored tablet with an inscription.
