Description

This is a milestone dating from around 1840, located approximately 1720 metres north-north-west of the Church of St Peter in Peterchurch. It is made of painted cast iron and has a triangular plan with a raked top. The pedestal is smaller than the top and features cavetto corners. The edges of the inscription panels are raised. The top of the milestone reads "PETERCHURCH/ PARISH". The left side indicates "To/ PETERCH/ 1/ MILE", while the right side states "TO/ HAY/ 8/ MILES". The founder's name on the pedestal is illegible.
