Description
Fording Farmhouse and the adjoining outbuilding, located to the northeast, date from around 1700. They are constructed of red sandstone rubble, topped with roofs made of stone slate and corrugated iron. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are casements featuring segmental brick heads, and straight joints indicate that the sills have been raised. Notably, the middle window on the first floor is blocked and has a head and sill that are lower than those of the adjacent windows. The entrance door is positioned on the right side, within a lower section that includes an outbuilding, which is said to contain a cider mill. To the right, there are external stone steps leading to a first-floor doorway. The building has chimneys located on the left, to the right of the doorway, and on the rear wall, the latter of which features a large external stack.
