Description
White House Cottages are two houses dating from the 16th century, with later additions and alterations. The buildings feature timber-framing, brick, and rubble, topped with a late 20th-century interlocking tile roof. They are two storeys high. The left part has timber-framed construction, with exposed square panels to the left of the porch and a casement window on each floor. To the left, there is a single-storey canted projection with casement windows in its front wall. The gabled porch has a jettied upper storey with a single casement window. Next to the right wall of the porch is a narrow stone projection under a catslide roof. To the right of this projection are two bays; the left bay contains fragments of timber-framing, including a principal post, while the right bay is a later addition made entirely of brick. The chimneys are aligned with the torch and on the gables, with the left chimney positioned forward of the ridge.
