Description
This is a dovecote located about 5 metres south of the Lower Hurst, dating from the 17th century, with some early 19th century and late 20th century repairs. It features a timber frame with brick and rendered infill, partially covered with weatherboarding, and stands on a coursed rubble plinth. The roof is made of graduated stone tiles and is gabled on all four sides, with a square plan. The north front has two storeys, featuring a small shuttered opening on the first floor and a door on the ground floor, which is a 20th century ledged and boarded door with a plank weathering. The roof is topped by a weatherboarded glover that is gabled in four directions and includes a weather vane. The framing consists of one rectangular panel high on each floor with straight tension braces. The Lower Hurst is not included in this listing.
