Description
Little Sarnesfield is a farmhouse that dates back to the 14th century, with alterations from the 17th century and early and late 18th century, as well as some early 20th-century repairs. It features a timber-frame structure clad in brick and has a slate roof. The building is arranged in a U-plan, with the main hall range aligned north to south and cross-wings extending to the rear on the east side.
The west front has two storeys and gables on the cross-wings. It includes a window arrangement of one plus two plus one, with all windows being 2-light casements set under segmental heads. On the ground floor, there is a similar window to the left, a canted bay with a hipped slate roof and a glazing bar sash on the front of the hall range, and another similar bay window to the right. The entrance is located to the right of centre and features a brick gabled porch with a slate roof. The door is half-glazed and sits beneath a rubbed brick head.
At the rear of the south cross-wing, the visible framing consists of two square panels high. Inside, the south wing is reported to contain the remains of a cusped roof.
