2/45 Phillips memorial about 30 metres north-west of west tower of Church of St Mary

GV II

Chest tomb. John Phillips died 1797. Ashlar. Bold corner balusters, raised and fielded inscription panel, moulded cornice, flat top. Inscription: "To the Memory of John Phillips/ of the Town of Hay Inn - Holder/ who departed this Life June 7th 1797/ Aged 59 Years". This is agood example of stone masonry and enhances the setting of the church; it contributes to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
