Description
This building consists of two hop kilns, a maltings, and an attached service block, located about 15 yards north of Vauld House. The kilns and maltings date from the late 19th century and are constructed of brick with slate roofs. The roofs of the kilns are pyramidical and feature wooden cowls and vanes. The structure has a rectangular plan with a square hop kiln at both the east and west ends.
On the north elevation, the building is two storeys high and has two windows with segmental heads. There are two large fans that project above the eaves level under a flat canopy, along with two small windows, one on either side of a central ledged door leading to the first floor. The ground floor has six evenly spaced windows, with two in each section; the central two windows have two lights, while the others have one light each. The ground floor also features three ledged doors: one in the center and one on each side, with the side doors being stable doors. The service block is integrated into the south side of the hop kilns and has a rounded corrugated iron roof.
