Description

Litmarsh Farm is a house dating probably from the late 17th or early 18th century, with alterations around 1900 and restoration around 1984. The house is timber-framed with plaster infill, and has pantile roofs. It comprises two plus three bays aligned roughly north/south. The west elevation includes a two-storey section to the left, dating from around 1900, featuring a rendered end stack, late 20th-century glazing bar casements (two on the first floor with top vents), and a restored single-storey and attic section to the right. The restored right section features two glazing bar casements, a pair of late 20th-century doors within a contemporary pantiled lean-to porch, and a late 20th-century gabled dormer. The east elevation shows timber framing along its entire length and a local type rendered stone end stack with a detached brick shaft to the north end. The group value of this building is that it’s a well-preserved example of a regional building type.
