Description
The Slade Monument is a chest tomb located about 15 yards south-south-east of the south door of the Church of St George. It commemorates John Slade, who died in 1819. The tomb is made of finely cut sandstone and features a moulded base, double hipped capping, and corner balusters. It has raised side inscriptions and end panels adorned with corner paterae surrounding oval inner panels. This monument is one of a pair located outside the south porch, with the other being a chest tomb that has an illegible inscription.
