Description
This building is a barn located about 40 yards east of Trippenkennett, likely dating from the 18th to early 19th century. It features a timber frame that has been extended with sandstone rubble, weatherboards, and a corrugated iron north gable, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of approximately eight structural bays arranged in a north-west to south-east alignment.
The south-west elevation has a high rubble plinth on the left and center, above which there are sections of corrugated iron and weatherboarding; the right side is obscured by a late 20th-century outbuilding that is set at a right angle and is not included in this listing. The south-east gable has two rows of three vent slits positioned below the eaves and two additional vent slits at the top of the gable.
Inside, the barn has timber-framed side walls with two unequal panels extending from the plinth to the wall-plate. The trusses feature triple-angle struts and raking struts connecting the ties to the principals. The former south-east end wall, now two bays in from the current end wall, includes three vertical struts connecting the tie to the collar. Originally, there were two threshing floors: one located in the third bay from the north-west and the other in the second bay from the south-east.
