Barn about 10 yards south-east of Penlan Farmhouse and adjoining outbuilding

Barn, now photographic studio. C17, with late C20 alterations. Timber-framed and weatherboarded on rubble base with some rubble walling; stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses partly replaced by machine tiles. Four framed bays aligned north-west/south-east; wagon bay with opposed cart entries and double doors situated in second bay from north-west end. There is a stable door in the north-east elevation. Interior: wall-framing probably has three panels from sill to wall-plate. An upper floor has been inserted throughout and roof trusses not visible. The barn is prominently situated close to Penlan Farmhouse and adjoining outbuilding (qv). Included for group value. (RCHM, III, 76, item 9).
