Description
The Davis memorial is a chest tomb located about 25 metres north of the north porch of the Church of St Mary. It commemorates William Davis, who died in 1809. The tomb is made of ashlar and features plain corner pilasters, a raised inscription panel, a moulded cornice, and a flat top. The inscription reads: "[Sacred]/ to the Memory of William Davis/ late of the Standel in this Parish/ who died the 9th Day of February/ 1809. Aged 60 years/ [4 more lines]." This memorial is a good example of stone masonry and enhances the setting of the church, contributing to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
