Description

Two chest tombs are located in the churchyard by the path south of the south transept of the Church of St Cyriac. The first tomb, an unidentified memorial from the early 18th century, is made of ashlar and features two raised oval plaques on each side, a scrolled center, angle piers, a moulded base, and a heavy capstone. The second tomb is the Davis memorial, dating from the early to mid-17th century, also constructed of ashlar. It has two sunk panels on each side and sunk end panels with raised shields. The north side inscriptions are eroded, but the date 1618 is still visible. This memorial is said to commemorate Margaret Davis, who died in 1619, and William Davis, who died in 1637 or 1638, of Bewley Court.
