Description
Upper Little Hope Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was altered in the mid-19th century. It features a timber-framed structure with sections of brick and wattle-and-daub infill, a sandstone plinth, and later brick refacing and additions. The house has a slate roof and was originally designed in an L-plan, although this layout is now obscured by additional extensions to the east. The entrance is located in the angle of the L on the west side.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with a basement. On the west front, there are two 2-light glazing bar casement windows to the left of a lean-to porch that has a ledged door. To the right, there is a side wing with one 2-light casement window and steps leading down to the basement. The timber framing is visible on the west front, displaying three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate on the right and four square panels on the left, where the roof has been raised.
