Description

The bridge at Mordiford is a road bridge dating to the 14th and 16th centuries. Constructed of coursed and dressed sandstone rubble, it spans the River Lugg. It features two main arches, with a pointed head of two orders on the western arch and a later semi-circular head on the eastern arch. Cutwaters are present on the piers, and the parapets were largely rebuilt while the bridge was slightly widened on its southern side during the 16th century. A further five arches extend to the west, forming a causeway that enters Hampton Bishop parish; two flood arches are also visible.
