Description

The lock on the River Lugg, located toward the confluence with the River Wye, is a pound lock that possibly dates back to the early 18th century. It features stone walls that flank the banks of the River Lugg, with remnants indicating the position of the lower lock gate. Although it is in poor condition, it remains an interesting example of the navigation history of the River Lugg. In 1662, an Act of Parliament granted Sir William Sandys permission to navigate the Wye and Lugg rivers as far as Leominster.
