Description

The Pengethley Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel, built around 1823. It features squared sandstone that is finished with render, a hipped Welsh slate roof, and brick ridge stacks. The building has a square plan with a rectangular service wing attached to the east side of the north entrance front. It includes a cellar and two storeys.

The north elevation has three windows, which are glazing bar sashes with hood-moulds. There is a central porch supported by square piers and topped with a cornice, featuring a fanlight with a 3-centred head and side glazing, along with a six-panelled door. The eaves cornice is moulded. The west elevation showcases two full-height canted bays.

Inside, there is a two-flight open well staircase with enriched balusters that alternate between stick balusters, both made of cast iron. The lower two-storey service wing to the east has 2-light casements on the first floor and glazing bar sashes on the ground floor.
