2/95 Barn about 25 yards north of Coldbrook

Barn. Probably late C17 to early C18 with C19 extension and alterations. Timber-frame, sandstone rubble and brick with pantiled and corrugated iron roof. Seven plus three bays aligned roughly east/west, the three bays to the west being later; two threshing floors, one in third bay from west and the other in fifth bay. South elevation masked by C20 lean-to extensions; west-gable has late C19 patterned ventilator panel in brick; east gable has one vent slit in gable top and four beneath. Interior: five bays of south wall have wall-frame three panels high to wall-plate from sill, the two trusses to west side of each threshing floor have two posts from ties to collars, whilst the tie-beams themselves are supported by superimposed posts pegged and separated by rails which extend only a short distance across the floors; the remaining trusses have triple angle struts. Coldbrook is not included in this list.
