Description
Awnells is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with later enlargements and modifications made from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It features a timber-frame construction with brick cladding and a roof made of concrete tiles and pantiles, supported by three brick stacks. The building consists of two parallel three-bay ranges, with a taller brick extension of nearly equal length on the east side.
The farmhouse is two storeys high. On the south elevation, there are six windows, with three in each part. The left part has segmental heads with 20th-century casements on the first floor and early 19th-century iron casements flanking a roughly central entry that is set in a gabled porch, which may date back to the 17th century. The right part features regular fenestration with three-light late 19th-century casements and two casements, each containing 12 panes. There is a central ledged door beneath a cambered head, a dentilled brick eaves cornice, and a pantiled roof.
