Description

Two attached barns, dating from the 18th century and altered in the 19th century with 20th-century additions, are located approximately 30 meters south-east of Little Bernithan Farmhouse. They are constructed of sandstone rubble and have corrugated metal roofs. The barns have a rectangular plan and are aligned north-west to south-east, with the north-west barn connected to the south-east barn at the western corner.

The north-west barn features five bays, a central threshing floor, and a forward projecting hipped porch, along with a lean-to that creates a cat-slide roof to the left. There is a 20th-century addition on the right side, which includes two rows of loop vents and king strut trusses. The south-east barn has three bays and also contains a central threshing floor, two rows of loop vents, a circular owl hole in the gable, and inclined strut trusses. Both barns retain their picturesque smeared render. Little Bernithan Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
