Description
This is a barn located approximately 35 meters northeast of Lower Ponthendre, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with some timber-framing, topped with a corrugated metal roof and cladding. The barn has four bays that run east to west, with a later added bay at the west end. There is a threshing floor situated to the east of the center, and the south front features a square-headed doorway leading to the later addition on the left. Inside, there are remnants of square panelled framing and inclined strut trusses with slightly bent principals. This barn is part of a group that includes another barn located approximately 25 meters east of Lower Ponthendre and a cow shed about 20 meters northeast of Lower Ponthendre. Although it is part of this group, it belongs to Middle Ponthendre. The nearby Lower Ponthendre Farmhouse has been altered and is not included in this listing.
