Description
The cow shed at The Grove is a building dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a roof made of corrugated metal and pantiles. The structure has a rectangular plan that runs east to west and is attached to a timber-framed barn to the east.
The cow shed stands two storeys tall and has irregular openings, with four windows on the first floor and five on the ground floor, all featuring segmental heads. The entrance is now the second opening from the left, and there are steps leading to a granary at the west gable. Two of the first-floor windows still have wooden slats, and the main elevation displays a picturesque smeared render. The south wall has inclined strut trusses, and the upper level at the eastern end is partly timber-framed.
