Description

A row of houses, now used as houses and offices, was built in the early 19th century, with later additions in the early 20th century. The building is of brick construction, incorporating a stone plinth and a hipped slate roof, with two brick stacks facing the front. It is symmetrical in design, with three storeys and cellars, and features a four-window arrangement. The upper two floors have six-over-six sash windows set within segmental arches, and with stone sills. A brick modillion corn cornice runs along the eaves. Central entrances are sheltered by timber gable porches with two bays on each side, topped with slate verandahs. Side units have entrances with porticos supported by fluted columns, topped by single sashes within round-headed recesses.

Interiors vary between properties. For example, at number 59, a dogleg staircase features stick balusters and a swan neck rail. The second floor has two four-panel doors, a 19th-century hob-grate with a slate and wooden surround and a wall cupboard with a two-panel door. The first floor has six-panel doors with architraves and a late 19th-century fireplace with a slate surround. The ground floor features a fireplace with a slate surround, six-panel doors with architraves, a range with a cast-iron surround, and a marble fireplace with hand-painted tiles. At number 61, another dogleg staircase incorporates stick balusters, turned newels, and a swan neck rail. Number 63 also has a dogleg staircase with stick balusters and turned newels. Cellars beneath all properties are brick-lined.
