Description
Pitfield Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was extensively enlarged during the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features square panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill on a sandstone rubble plinth, along with later brick additions. The roof is made of Welsh slate. The building has an L-plan layout with wings aligned southwest to northeast and northwest to southeast, and the entrance is located in the angle of the L on the northeast front. There are lateral and axial stacks, and the farmhouse is two storeys high.
On the northeast front, the left wing has a forward-projecting single-storey brick addition with a hipped roof, a canted bay window, and a pair of small four-pane windows above the doorway in the angle of the L. There is a lean-to porch with a six-panelled door. The gable end of the right wing features a three-light casement window on both floors. Inside, the farmhouse retains chamfered ceiling beams with ogee stops.
