Description
The Post Office is a house that dates from the 17th century or early 18th century. It is timber-framed with plastered infill panels and has a slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main section being a two-bay gabled cross-wing that features a rubble side stack and a tall brick chimney on the left side. It stands two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:2, with 20th-century casements. The framing consists of small square panels, with four panels from the cill to the plate, and short struts at the angles of the cross-wing. Inside, there is a collar-and-tie-beam truss with three struts to the collar and V-struts above, which are visible in the gable of the cross-wing. A central, gabled porch with side lights and a bargeboard is located at the front of the main block, which is set back. To the right, there is a low pantiled structure that was formerly a cart house and wash house, complete with a rubble chimney.
