Description

This is an 18th-century cottage located in West Hyde. It is timber-framed with areas of brick patching and brick infill, and has a thatched roof. The cottage originally comprised two bays and has one storey, with a gable-lit attic. A large stepped chimney built of rubble and a rounded bread oven are visible, with the gable end lime-washed. There are small 20th-century casement windows, one to the left of the porch, and a 20th-century lean-to porch positioned off-centre to the right. The timber framing extends two panels in height. The cottage displays an example of margin settlement or colonisation.
