Description
This building is a barn and cowhouse attached to the north-west corner of Trenant Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and 20th century. The structure features a timber frame set on a rubble plinth, originally weatherboarded, with woven infill and a corrugated iron roof. It consists of five framed bays, with a two-bay cowhouse at the east end and a three-bay barn at the west end, which includes a central threshing floor and a framed wall separating the two sections. There are three entries to the cowhouse in the north wall. The framing includes two and three square panels high, and the trusses have two raking struts. The gables feature two queen struts to the collar, trenched purlins, and a ridge.
