Description
Upper Hazle Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century but was significantly enlarged and refronted in the late 18th to early 19th century. It features a combination of timber-frame and brick construction, with tiled and hipped slate roofs and sandstone and brick stacks. The building has a roughly rectangular plan, consisting of a later large range that is aligned north/south and a 17th-century range that is aligned east/west at the south end. The large range has three storeys, while the 17th-century range has two storeys and an attic.
The east elevation displays a pattern of 1:3 windows, with segmentally-headed casements of two, three, and four lights. There is a Diocletian window in the attic gable on the left side. The entry on the left side of the main range features a transom light and a bracketed canopy above.
