Description

Hill Farmhouse is likely of 18th century origin, with alterations and extensions added in the 19th century. It is a timber-frame building with brick infill, sandstone rubble gables and extensions, brick stacks, and roofs covered in tile and slate. The original two timber-framed bays have been extended by a single bay constructed in sandstone rubble. The farmhouse has two storeys. The rear elevation features two windows, which are 19th century casements. The right-hand window is largely obscured by a 19th century lean-to addition, which contains two windows and a ledged door. The timber frame is made from thin timbers, generally consisting of four unequal panels from the sill to the wall plate. The farmhouse is part of a group of upland farm buildings, including a nearby barn, cider house, and granary.
