Description
The Market Hall in Kington was built around 1885 and is constructed of brick with a hipped Welsh slate roof featuring a clerestory. It is a single-storey building with a four-window range, showcasing fixed windows that have glazing bars set in moulded cases beneath flat arches with keystones. The central entrance consists of plank double doors and a wrought-iron screen above the overlight, all under a brick semi-circular arch topped with a pediment and flanked by pilasters. The eaves are moulded brick, and there is decorative terracotta ornamentation. A clock tower was added to the left side in 1897, featuring louvred openings, decorative bands, and a balustrade with finials. The left side of the building has a central entrance with a screen and two lights. The Market Hall occupies a prominent position in the area.
