Description
The Old Ha'penny House is a cottage, likely built in the early 18th century, with additions made around 1900. It features a timber frame with plaster infill and plain tiled roofs. The cottage has two bays that are aligned east to west and consists of one storey with an attic.
On the north elevation, there are two late 19th-century casement windows that are evenly spaced on either side of a plain panelled mid-20th century door located to the left of the center. To the left, there is a lean-to brick extension that has an entrance and conceals the end stack of the timber-framed section. The south side, which is the rear, has a catslide roof that extends over another brick extension.
The west gable elevation facing the road shows plank weathering on the tie-beam and collar, with a two-light attic casement positioned between them. The frame of the cottage is regular, with three panels high from the cill to the wall-plate, and struts connecting the corner posts to the west gable tie-beam.
