Description
The Butt monument, located about 2 yards south of the south-east corner of the south aisle of the Church of St George, is a pedestal tomb dedicated to Henry Butt, who died in 1834. It is made of finely cut sandstone and features a deep moulded base. The tomb has a stepped hipped capping adorned with acanthus leaves on each side of semi-circular headed shouldered inscription panels. This monument is part of a close group with the Harris, Mailes, and Williams monuments.
