Description
The cider house and granary, located about 20 yards north-west of Hill Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It features a high sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with brick nogging, topped with a tiled roof. The structure has two bays that are aligned roughly north to south. The west elevation includes a gabled entry to the granary, accessed by a set of stairs known as tallet stairs. The timber frame consists of one panel high from the plinth to the wall-plate, and the trusses include V-struts connecting the principals to the collars. Inside, there is a cider mill. This building is part of a close-knit upland farm group that includes Hill Farmhouse and a nearby barn.
