Description
This is a tomb chest located approximately 8 metres south of the Church of St John the Baptist, dating from the mid-18th century. It is made of sandstone and features a slab with cornice moulding that includes egg-and-dart enrichment. The corners have inverted consoles. The short sides, which face west and east, are carved with a book and a worn cartouche. The south side is adorned with two figures holding books and trumpets, along with an inscription that reads: "Here Lies Interred the Body of Stephen Yearsley late of the Parish. He died Aug ye 25 1742 aged 78 years .....".
