Description
This tomb chest, located approximately 7 metres south of the nave of the Church of St John, dates from the early 18th century. It is made of limestone with a sandstone top. The sides feature inscriptions set within moulded borders that have shouldered round tops, which are flanked by carved shells and drops of fruit and flowers. The ends of the tomb chest are adorned with egg-and-dart cornices, while the western end is intricately carved with three cherubs' heads. The inscriptions were found to be illegible during a survey conducted in April 1986.
