Description

The Old Barn is a converted barn, possibly dating from the 16th century. It features a cruck frame with timber-framed walls that are partly filled with brick and partly covered with weatherboarding. The building has a steep tiled roof and wide doors located towards the center of both long walls.

Inside, the barn consists of five bays. The crucks have short straight braces connecting to raised tie-beams, with blades that end above a collar, and spurs that connect the blades to the wall-posts. The walls are framed in square panels that include grooves and holes for wattle, indicating that the original infill was likely made of wattle-and-daub.
