Description

This chest tomb, dated 1762, is located about 7 yards south of the buttress between the nave and chancel of the Church of St Mary in Staunton-on-Wye. It is constructed from squared sandstone rubble and features a flat sandstone capping. The tomb is double width and the capping is adorned with incised panels depicting cherubim under arches. The inscription on the tomb is mostly illegible but includes the words " ... body of Henry ... 1762".
