Description
The gate piers, gates, and steps located about 35 yards south of the Great House date from the 18th century. They are constructed from dressed sandstone and limestone, with wrought iron elements. The piers are arranged in a roughly east/west orientation. There are five stone steps leading from the south to the gates, with an additional two steps from the gates to a rectangular well. The piers have a square plan and are topped with plain cappings, each featuring a large pineapple finial. The gate itself is a richly scrolled and barred single-leaved design, with cresting that rises to the center and is flanked by scrolled standards on the enriched side panels.
