Description
This granary, located about 25 yards north-north-east of Clehonger Court, is likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and brick, topped with a tiled roof. The building has a rectangular five-bay layout and stands two storeys tall.
On the west elevation, there are two windows with cambered brick heads positioned at the center and left of the first floor. Above each window, there is a smaller rectangular opening featuring diamond section oak mullions. The ground floor includes two entrances: one to the left of center and another directly beneath the central windows. A set of stairs on the right leads up over two dog-kennels to a ledged door that opens into the first floor. To the right of the granary, there is a single-storey mid-19th century extension with three blocked segmental headed openings. The left side of the elevation is partially obscured by a late 20th century agricultural building.
Inside, the granary features collar trusses and braces that are tied back to the wall-plates. This structure is included for its group value. Clehonger Court itself is not part of this listing.
