Description
The Williams memorial is a pedestal tomb located about 15 metres north of the north porch of the Church of St Mary. It dates from the 18th century and is signed by R Millward. The tomb is made of ashlar stone and features a cube on a plinth, with bold fluted balusters supporting a cornice. The top is bevelled leading to a concave base for an urn finial, which is broken off and lying beside the memorial. The south face of the tomb has an inscription that reads: "Francis/ Son of Francis/ and Sibyl Williams/ Died August 14th 1767 Aged 9 months", with additional inscriptions on the other faces. This memorial is a fine example of stone masonry and enhances the church's setting, contributing to the overall value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
