Description
This group of three chest tombs is located about 0.5 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. They date from the early 19th century and are made of ashlar. The tombs are arranged side by side and are identical in design, differing only in their inscriptions. Each tomb features corner balusters, a moulded cornice, and a flat top, with the inscription panels being raised and fielded. The tombs commemorate: (1) Walter Watkins, who died in 1824, (2) Elizabeth James, who died in 1860, and (3) Mary Watkins, who died in 1838. Although Elizabeth James passed away in 1860, her tomb was clearly constructed in the early 19th century.
