Description
Lower Cefn Farmhouse is a farmhouse that possibly dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and some minor changes in the 20th century. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and has a corrugated asbestos roof, which was formerly covered with stone slate. The building is aligned east to west and features a central cross-wing, a former through-passage, a main axial stack, and additional gable-end stacks, along with later minor lean-to additions.
The farmhouse is a single storey with an attic. On the north-west front, there is a lean-to to the left of the gable end of the cross-wing, which includes a 2-light casement window. To the right, there is a lean-to porch with an inner ledged door, a minor lateral stack with a bread oven, and a 2-light 20th-century window. Although the interior is not accessible, it is likely that the main room retains chamfered ceiling beams, as noted by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England.
