Description
The gate piers adjoining the south-west corner of Lower Letton Farmhouse are a pair dating from the late 12th century and 13th century, which were re-assembled in the 19th century. They are made of finely carved and moulded sandstone and are aligned roughly south-west to north-east. Each pier stands about 4 feet 6 inches high and features a cluster of keel-moulded shafts. Additional decorative fragments include interlaced chevrons and beak-heads. The right pier has a 13th-century stiff-leaf capital. Lower Letton Farmhouse itself is not included in this listing.
