Description
The Court House is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and timber-frame, with parts rendered, and features Welsh slate roofs along with sandstone and brick stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the main range oriented west-south-west to east-north-east and a wing that projects southwards at the eastern end.
It stands two storeys tall, with the south elevation displaying a pattern of two windows on the left and three on the right, all featuring mid-20th century glazing bar casements, except for a small window on the left that has small top vents. The ground floor includes a five-light mid-20th century casement on the left and two additional contemporary casements in the gable front. A central ledged oak door from the 20th century is located beneath a wide canopy. A large sandstone stack is positioned in the gable at the left end.
The frame of the main range includes two angle struts connecting the posts to the wall-plate and features two rows of square panels in the exposed framing of the first floor. The western return of the cross-wing exhibits some close-studding. Inside, the south room of the projecting wing has a panelled ceiling formed from a chamfered ceiling beam, along with a large fireplace that has stone jambs.
