Description

The Burrup Monument is a chest tomb located about 3 yards south of the central lancet of the south aisle of the Church of St George. It commemorates William Burrup, who died in 1810. The tomb is made of finely cut sandstone and features a moulded and hipped capping. The end panels are designed with through-balusters, while the side panels have incised quadrant corners. This monument is part of a group of four chest tombs, which also includes those for Barrett, Hooper, and John Wheeler.
