Description
A barn, likely dating from the 18th century, stands approximately 30 yards west of Whitfield. The barn is constructed of sandstone rubble with weatherboards, breeze blocks, and a corrugated iron roof. It has six bays arranged north to south. The south elevation features a battered base and a small window above a sliding door dating from the early 20th century on the left side. Three vent slits are located between the small window and the entrance to the threshing floor, which is situated to the right of centre. Breeze blocks are visible beneath the threshing floor threshold. The south gable has vertical weatherboards above the eaves line, added in the late 20th century. The interior contains trusses with collars and angle struts extending from the ties to the principals. The barn is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of nearby buildings.
