Description
The Old Vicarage is a house dating from around the 16th century, with extensions added in the 17th century and restoration in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, set on a course rubble plinth, topped with a slate and graduated stone tile roof. The building has an L-plan layout, with a 16th-century cross-wing extending to the south and another range to the west. There is a lateral rubble stack on the east wall of the cross-wing.
On the north front, the cross-wing on the left is two storeys high, featuring a 2-light casement window above a 3-light casement window. The range to the right is one storey with an attic that is lit by a roof-light and has a 2-light casement window below. The entrance is located at the right-hand corner of the cross-wing and consists of a ledged and boarded door. The framing of the cross-wing includes two high rectangular panels, with curved tension braces and angle braces. The truss has two raking struts, a collar, and trenched purlins, while the later range has three square panels high.
