Description

Village Farmhouse incorporating post office is a farmhouse that has been converted into two houses and a post office. It dates from the early 18th century, with some alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick and some rubble, topped with a plain tile roof. It features a single 20th-century red brick stack on the left and a ridge stack, while the external right stack is mainly made of rubble with some 20th-century red brick. The gables are coped with kneelers and have single ridge finials.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has five bays. The outer single bays project and are gabled, resting on rubble plinths, while the single central bay is also gabled. There are first and second floor bands on the gabled bays. The central doorway has a panelled door, with single glazing bar sash windows on either side. The outer single bays contain larger sashes, with the left one set in a former segmental arched opening. Above these are four glazing bar sashes, and each gable apex features a single recessed blind oval panel.

Attached to the left and set back is a single-storey, single-bay wing made of red brick and plain tile, which also has a coped gable and a single segmental arched glazing bar casement. Further to the left is a barn, which is listed as a separate item.
