Description

A row of four cottages was built in 1839. The cottages are constructed of red brick with some ashlar detailing, and have a plain tile roof. They feature two ridge stacks and two lateral red brick stacks, along with dogtooth eaves. The brick coped gables have kneelers and single ridge finials. A dentil band with raised brick detailing runs across the first floor.

The two-storey, eleven-bay arrangement includes projecting gabled bays at each end and a central gabled bay. A central entrance is marked by a wooden gate, with doorways on either side – one with a part-glazed door and the other with a panelled door. Further to the left and right are tripartite casement windows. A blocked doorway is also present. Each of the outer bays has a single two-light casement window. Above, there are four smaller tripartite casement windows, paired with single two-light casements in the outer bays. Each outer bay has a single recessed oval panel in the gable apex. A central apex panel is painted with a heraldic emblem and is dated 1839. All window and door openings have ashlar lintels. The cottages are included on the list solely for their contribution to the group value of buildings in the area.
